Heritage

In 1954, he was appointed as councillor by the Chogyal in the Sikkim State Council, where he served for ten years. His appointment marked an important transition in his public career. Having worked for many years at the grassroots level as a Mandal, he then became involved in the wider political and administrative affairs of Sikkim.

The Samman is new. The Samity is not.

The Samity was registered in 1977. The Samman itself began in 2025, so 2026 is the second edition. The forty nine years belong to the organisation, not to the festival, and the two should not be confused.
